I went to service and heard a new song. One verse said “I lay down all my dreams“ another verse of the same song said “I surrender all to you“.
Honestly it was so much easier to say “I surrender all” than “I lay down all my dreams“. So much so that for the rest of the evening and now several days later I wonder: why is that?
Maybe it could just be as simply as being desensitized to the phrase “surrender” and alarmed by a new combination of words instead. That may be part of it but I don’t think that’s all of it.
I am going to do a study on this like my friend Joel would do.
