Have you ever needed to find someone like your favorite waiter in a restaurant? You can’t remember their name but you can remember that they were tall and really really funny. So you give a description to the hostess—and they say “Oh yeah Chuck”.
Or maybe you were a victim of a crime and needed to describe the person who stole from or attacked you? You may have met with a sketch artist and tried to describe how big the guy’s beard was but mostly you just want to say he was angry and yelling at you.
Either way there was a person that left an impression on you. It can seem that the actions of that person stick with us for much longer than their looks.
How would you like people to recognize you? After they’ve forgotten what color your hair is and what band t-shirt you had on last night what will they say.
“Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”
John 13:34-35
Will you be known for how you judged or how you loved those around you?
Will you be known for how often you went to church or how deeply you loved God? Ask God, who knows your heart better than anyone, to give you insight.

For some reason my google reader just now told me about your last 7 blogs all at the same time.

Glad to see Tim see the same thing. I thought I had entered some time warp or something. I’d not seen a new blog since “the example to follow”. Give me some time to catch up… I’ll be back to comment.

@tim: you didn’t miss anything. i posted all of the last seven entries yesterday then post dated them. they’re devotionals i’ve been writing for the new job. yesterday i had the bright idea to use them for this site as well. btw, what’s google reader?
@joel: the last several posts are from the murray hill theatre volunteer newsletter. i think i’ve forwarded the last few to you – so they shouldn’t be unfamiliar. thank you for catching them so quickly on here though. do you use google reader too?
