Great stuff to ponder Raven. From afar, likely all fig trees look alike. However, up close one would be able to see if there was any fruit on the branches. Also makes me think of the parable of the ten virgins. Line them all up side by side, even with lamps in hand and they'd all look alike. Only close inspection would reveal who had the necessary oil and who was empty. May we be a people who, upon close inspection, are found with "edible" food for those who hunger and most of all, bearing fruit that pleases the Father. Anyone can look great from afar (white-washed tombs with forms of godliness) but it's what's found up close ( in intimacy/transparency with others) that gives life.

Good stuff Raven. What this made me think of is how far too often I feast on "spiritual junk food" that causes my inner man to become fat and lethargic. Eating of true spiritual food that Jesus talked about (His flesh and blood) is what will sustain me and cause me to flourish into the spiritually healthy man that my Father desires.

Good stuff Raven. Although "why" isn't always a bad question to ask, I understand what you're saying. There's a big difference between "Lord why is this coming to pass in my life - what is your purpose in the midst of it all?" and "Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy God whyyyyyyyyyyyy?" :)

I think it would do us all good to seek Him wholeheartedly without any wavering no matter what we find ourselves in. Things go badly? Seek Him. Things are exactly as we think they should be? Seek Him. The days of gauging what God is "in" and what He is not by whether we're comfortable or not should be left behind in our spiritual infancy. Maturity says, He is my all in all - always. In all things His one main desire is to see me be transformed into the image of His Son.

True. True.

It's so easy to sometimes get so preoccupied with the task at hand and not feel free enough to help others.

The TV show "What Would You Do" did an experiment on it. It was far less likely for the people that were under a time constraint to stop and help than the people given a flexible time schedule.

Thank you for being flexible Joel. There are plenty of times I know that you've made time to answer or return a phone call and let me glean some of your wisdom :)

thank you joel.

somewhere i read that God isn't obligated to complete what He didn't start so keeping focus is very much a top priority. it would suck to waste time and energy following a fool's errand (a goal of my own).

again thank you for the encouragement.

Raven, what you possess so far surpasses any monetary challenges you'll ever face. It can't be measured or counted.
Good point Raven. One doesn't have to become glued to another's side to glean wisdom and useful life information. There is a balance to be found in sharing life with others yet always allowing the Teacher be our primary Source and enabler. I commend you for doing what Jesus did - stopping your agenda to share your life with so many others. I believe our "natural" journey provides us with more than enough opportunities to share the love of Christ that we know as reality. Miss ya. :)
